Flies are attracted to sweat, body odor, and carbon dioxide, so if you are sweating a lot or not wearing insect repellent, you may attract flies. Additionally, flies are also drawn to food and waste, so make sure to properly dispose of any trash and avoid eating in areas where flies are present. Lastly, certain types of flies are more active during specific times of the day, so you may notice an increase in fly activity during dawn or dusk. **

It is common to encounter flies while hiking, especially in areas with abundant vegetation or near bodies of water. Flies are attracted to sweat, body heat, and the carbon dioxide we exhale, making hikers a prime target. To minimize the presence of flies, consider wearing light-colored clothing, using insect repellent, and avoiding scented products. Additionally, staying on marked trails and avoiding areas with standing water can help reduce the likelihood of being followed by flies while hiking. **
